Global communication

Hi LQ students,

You are invited to attend Global Education Seminar is happening next Tuesday on 31st October 2006.

Some 600 students from CE have been selected to participate.

They will be joined by 300 students from College Central.

With this in mind, it is important that you attend the Seminar.

Our own CE students from School of ICT will be making a presentation in the seminar. Come and support them!

The election campaign will be election campaign will be from Mon 16 Oct to Fri 20 Oct 06. During these period, the 3 candidates will be visiting the classes. I hope to seek your support to grant them air time if they approach your class.

All CE students will be invited to cast their vote through the e-voting system from Mon 23 Oct to Mon 30 Oct 06. Further details on the e-voting procedures will be advised in the separate email nearer to the voting dates.

First Singapore eLearning Awards 2006

SITF will be holding the First Singapore eLearning Awards 2006.

There are 3 categories:
Category A: Custom content award
Category B: eLearning Organisation of the year award
Category C: eLearning champion of the year award

After some clarification, SITF has confimed that individual ITE Colleges are free to submit as many entries as possible for ALL the 3 categories. SITF will treat and judge each entry for each category as separate entries.

Thus, Colleges can submit independently and directly to SITF.

Closing date is 27 Oct 2006

Shell LiveWIRE Inter - ITE College Business Strategy Game Competition 2006

Following the successful launch of Business Strategy Game(BSG) Competition 2005, we are glad to annouce that Shell has agreed to sponsor this event for Year 2006. Thus, it is now known as Shell LiveWIRE Inter - ITE College Business Strategy Game Competition 2006.


This event is organised by ITE College West (Clementi Campus)
- Entrepreneurship Club.

Date : 16 & 17 Nov 2006
Venue : Clementi Campus
Closing date of Registration : 31 Oct 2006

We are targeting a maximum of 30 teams
(Max 5 students/team)from all ITE Colleges .
Promotional materials (posters) will be disseminated
to respective campuses by mid Oct 2006.

The event is designed to gather budding entrepreneurs to

·Experience hands-on learning exercise.
·Deepen understanding of revenue-cost-profit relationships
and the factors that drive profitability.
·Provide an integrative capstone experience.
·Enhance understanding of the strategies for competing successfully in globally competitive and e-commerce environments.
·Provide valuable decision-making practice and help develop good business judgment.

Used notebooks for sale to students

LQ students,

ITE, East is conducting an exercise to sell condemned/used notebooks (in serviceable condition) to students.

launching the sale of these used notebooks (65 nos.) to full-time students from Mon 16 Oct 06 to Fri 20 Oct 06. Students who are interested to purchase the notebooks may register their interest at the Customer & Visitor Centre from 9am to 5pm from 16 to 20 Oct 06. Each complete set of notebook (consiting of the notebook, charger, mouse, port replicator, floppy drive, CD ROM drive & carrier case) will be sold to students at $120 each. Specifications and the terms and conditions for sale of the notebooks are shown in below :

If demand exceeds supply, a ballot will be conducted by IS Division to determine the allocation of the Notebooks to the students. Successful applicants will be informed by Fri 10 Nov 06.

ITE Career Fair 1 Nov 06

The Organising Committee would like to invite you to attend the Opening Ceremony of the ITE Career Fair 2006 to be held on Wed 1 Nov 2006 at 0900 hrs at the ITE College East Multi-Purpose Sports Hall .

The Guest-of-Honour at the Opening Ceremony will be Mr Roger Lee, President of ITE Alumni Association .

The ceremony programme is as follows:

0920 hours Opening Remarks by Guest-of-Honour
0930 hours Tour of Career Fair

A total of 32 companies, besides ITE, will be participating in ITE Career Fair 2006. Altogether these companies from different economic sectors are offering more than 2200 job vacancies to ITE graduates. The list of participating companies is attached for your information.

It will be good for those who graduating & will be looking for jobs
straight there after.

3D2N Logistics Trip to Bangkok

Objective:
Expose students to logistics operations overseas.

Details:
Date: 14,15 and 16 Dec 2006
Period: 3 days
Target group: 20 students
Possible places of visit: Bobae Market, Manufacturing company, Warehouse, Distribution Centre, Bangkok International Airport, Seaport.
Cost (include 2-way airfare, accomodation, meals, taxes): Est.max $500

Mode of payment:
1/3 - Edusave
1/3 - College Funds (not confirmed)
1/3 - Co-payment (Cash or Student Edusave) (if they have)--> CAs,pls assist to check this part. Even if they do not have, we are not trying to stop them from going.

Last 2/3 - We will hold fund-raising activities to help students minimise the amount they have to pay cash out of their own pocket.
Nevertheless, they must be prepared to pay cash should the funds raised are not sufficient.

Assignment:
Students will have to complete an assignment (either individual or group) after returning from the trip. Hence they must be committed and serious.
Details will be advised later.

Grading:
Upon passing, students will be awarded 2 Credit Units.

We are opening this opportunity to ALL students.
In event of oversubscription, pls let the students know each and
everyone will be interviewed.
This is to ensure that everyone is given a fair chance.
Eventually the school has the right to decide who gets to go after the interview.

Pls check if these students who previously applied for the
HK trip are still interested in this trip.
If they are interested,pls get them to fill in the new form once more.

What to do:
All students are REQUIRED to complete the application form and attach a photocopy of their latest statement of results.
